Jordan Howard joins the Eagles’ Nest

Today the Eagles get better. After fans worried incessantly the Eagles would not get a running back in free agency, Howie Roseman pulled off what might end up being the steal of the free agency period
by trading for Jordan Howard and only giving up what ended up being a 6th round pick. For someone who has been a productive player in his 3 years in the league, this is a steal. Only Todd Gurley and Ezekiel Elliott have more yards than Howard in the last 3 years. Howard was a 5th round draft choice in 2016 for UAB and transferring from Indiana. Howard instantly becomes the Eagles best back and it’s not close It also signals the end of Jay Ajayi’s tenure in Philly. Ajayi has always been talented but his health has remained a concern over the course of his career.

How does this look fantasy wise?

Hard to say right now. As mentioned before Howard has been a productive back in the league for 3 years, and if he comes close to that, he will still be a good pick. Howard won’t have to re-learn the Philly offense as there is significant overlap with the Chicago offense. So expect Howard to be up and running in a short amount of time. I think Howard could be a good late round pick in season-long leagues as the main workhorses, Elliott, Gurley, and Le’Veon Bell will be long gone either as keepers or very early selections.
