NBA Daily Fantasy Autopsy January 15, 2017

Last night was a good evening. I cashed out in my contest, notching a super 290 points. This was my highest point total, and I expect more of the same as the season wears on. As always there were the usual suspects, guys you expect to do well who performed as expected. Chris Paul was solid with 45 points. Gordon Hayward also played well with 40.5 points. Let’s look at where I got it right, and where I blew it.

Where I went right

I have taken a chance on Taj Gibson, and again he did not disappoint. Delivered a solid 36.7 point performance at just $4800. I’ll take that every night. Also, Robin Lopez gave an excellent 26.5 showing with just $4400 on the books. Again, sign me up for that every time. Devin Booker has been on a hot streak. He delivered 41.4 points against a slightly below average $6300. Expect his salary to raise if he continues.

Where I went wrong

I invested $6700 in Julius Randle, and he gave me just 13 points. Upon further examination, Randle got hurt which may have slowed him down. Randle does have an injury history, so maybe that could have played into my decision making. But any player can get injured at any time. So I won’t be myself up over it too much, if at all.
This was a good W overall. You don’t want to depend on players overperforming for you to win every night, but it certainly helps when it happens. There is always the possibility that some players are only underpriced on Fanduel. So we move on. Today is a kind of busy day with NFL and NBA games on deck. Bet with your head, not over it. And if you can’t afford to gamble, don’t. Onward and Upward!
