Daily Fantasy Autopsy January 14, 2017
So I am looking at last night’s daily fantasy results, and some things jumped out at me. I had a solid effort, notching 244 points. But far short of the 300 I think you need to be competitive night in and night out.
Where did I go right?
I picked up Tony Allen at $4500; He rewarded me with 22 points, three assists, and four rebounds. High production at that price. He also turned the ball over three times, but I can live with that at that price. I made solid plays with Rudy Gay (44 points) and Tyler Johnson (33 points). To succeed in daily fantasy, it takes consistent solid picks.
Where did I go wrong?
God, where do I start? Gorgui Dieng underperformed for the second straight time. He has earned his article which is coming over the weekend. At $5300, he gave me 4 points, three boards, and two assists off 1-10 shooting. That just won’t get it done. He played 33 minutes, so I’m not sure how he didn’t manage more production than that. Also, I started Maurice Harkless which was a value play, only for him to be scratched at tip-off. Careless on my part. I should have checked beforehand. 25 points from his slot would have done wonders. Smart idea to set Google alerts for your players and set a reminder to check your lineups an hour before tip-off. The rule for me is that I don’t pick game time decision players. I don’t risk it. Harkless became a game-time decision during the day. That will happen but we need to be more vigilant.
I’m going to look for SF and PF options today. Also, I will update the ratings for tonight’s games. As always remember to bet with your head, not over it. And if you can’t afford to play, don’t.
