Yesterday I won my fantasy contest, making this 2 in a row in the NBA. I felt good about my match-up and figured I’d need 300 points to cash out. It turned out I needed that and then some. But I got it so let’s talk about it.
Where I went right
I picked up Lou Williams partly due to the fact I had him higher rated than some of his more expensive counterparts. Williams is a solid pro who can fill up a stat sheet. I also knew that D’Angelo Russell would be slowed down from getting hurt on Friday night. Williams would likely take his minutes. The NBA can be a night-to-night league.Lou rewarded my faith with a 26 point, four assists and three rebound effort as just $4500 in salary. That is impressive production at that price. For context, he matched the output of Andrew Wiggins, and the former number one overall pick is $2400 more expensive. I also snagged Lucas Nogueira who I admittedly never heard of before yesterday. He wasn’t great, but at $3800 I just needed him not to get a shutout and he didn’t. He put up 18.3 points which were enough on this night. He seems solid on the defensive end. Which will be something to look at going forward.
Where I went wrong
I didn’t make any egregious errors in judgment. Everyone performed as expected or above expectations. So I’ll take that any night.
Onward and upward! Bet with your head, not over it. If you can’t afford to play, don’t.
